I still remember standing in line at Best Buy in Austin, Texas, for Black Friday back in 2007. My mom was with us that year, along with my children, and let me tell you, Black Friday shopping was practically an Olympic sport back then!

I remember the excitement, the long lines, and everyone waiting for those doors to open. They were even handing out gifts at the door!

Now, I can’t remember all the fine print nearly 20 years later, but I do remember there being some rules about who could receive a gift. My children were less than thrilled, so I ended up giving mine to one of them. I didn’t care. We were there for the fun, the memories, and a little Black Friday madness.

And you know what else I remember? We eventually called it quits and headed to Denny’s for breakfast. Because apparently, nothing says family bonding quite like standing in a Black Friday line and rewarding yourself with a big breakfast afterward. 😂

Looking back, I couldn’t tell you what we bought that day, or even if we scored one of those incredible doorbuster deals. But I remember my mom being there, my children, the laughter, and that breakfast.

Funny how those are the things that stick with us.

Fast-forward to 2026, and Black Friday shopping has changed quite a bit. We’ve got early sales, online doorbusters, membership perks, price-match policies, and enough fine print to make your head spin.

Oof! These Black Friday deals and details can really take you out if you’re not paying attention.

So, bestie, before you set your alarm, grab your coffee, or start filling that online cart, I’ve done some homework for you.

We’re diving into Best Buy Black Friday 2026, including when the sales start, which deals are worth watching, whether there are any free door giveaways, who gets early access, and all those little details that could make or break your shopping plans.

Because whether you’re shopping for a new TV, a laptop, the latest tech, or just hoping to score a great deal, I want you to know what you’re walking into.

My Black Friday Shopping Checklist: What I Wish I’d Known in 2007

Here’s the list I wish I’d had while standing in that line back in 2007. It works at Best Buy and anywhere else you shop this year.

1. Make your list before the sales start. Decide what you actually need, who it’s for, and what you want to spend. A deal is only a deal if it was on your list.
2. Write down the exact model number. Two TVs can look the same and be very different. Black Friday models are sometimes made just for the sale, so compare the model number, not just the screen size.
3. Compare the price at more than one store. Check Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart and Target before you buy. It takes two minutes.
4. Sign in before you check out. Best Buy’s member rewards and offers only count when you’re signed in to your account.
5. Know the price match rules. Best Buy will match its own lower price if it drops after you buy. But from Nov 19 to Nov 30, it won’t match other stores’ prices, so compare before you buy, not after (more on that below).
6. Check the return deadline. Most Best Buy purchases from Oct 30 to Dec 31 can be returned until Jan 15, 2027. Save your receipts!
7. Shop online on Thanksgiving. Best Buy stores are closed that day, but BestBuy.com and the app stay open.
8. Use store pickup. Order online and pick it up in the store, or use a 24/7 pickup locker at select stores. No lines, no porch pirates.

Jenn’s tip 💋: Keep your receipt and check the price again a week or two after you buy. If Best Buy drops its own price while you can still return the item, ask for the difference.

When Is Best Buy Black Friday 2026?

Best Buy’s 10-day Black Friday sale starts Thursday, November 19, 2026, according to Best Buy’s 2026 holiday calendar. Black Friday itself is Friday, November 27.

And yes, we’re starting Black Friday shopping before we’ve even finished handing out Halloween candy. 😂 Best Buy kicks off the season today, October 30, with its Halloween-themed DoorBOOsters, and new deals drop every Friday after that.

What about store hours? Best Buy hasn’t posted its Black Friday store hours yet. It says to check your local store page on BestBuy.com for hours. I’ll update this post when the hours come out.

Is Best Buy Open on Thanksgiving 2026?

No. Best Buy stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2026. You can still shop deals on BestBuy.com and in the Best Buy app all day.

Does Best Buy Price Match on Black Friday?

Yes and no, and this is the fine print that can really take you out.

Best Buy’s own prices: yes. Best Buy’s Holiday Price Match Guarantee says that if a product sold by Best Buy drops in price during the holiday season, Best Buy will match it. You have to ask while you can still return the item: about 15 days for most shoppers, and 60 days for My Best Buy Plus and Total members. Products sold by Marketplace sellers on BestBuy.com are not included.

Other stores’ prices: not during Black Friday. Best Buy normally matches some competitors, like Amazon and Walmart. But it pauses that from the Thursday one week before Thanksgiving through the Monday after Thanksgiving, which is Nov 19 to Nov 30, 2026. It also never matches a competitor’s Black Friday pricing, daily or hourly flash deals, Prime-only prices, or third-party sellers.

So compare prices before you buy, not after. Check the full rules at BestBuy.com/PMG before you count on it.

Best Buy Holiday Return Policy 2026

Most Best Buy purchases made October 30 through December 31, 2026 can be returned or exchanged through January 15, 2027. My Best Buy Plus and Total members get until January 31, 2027.

That means you can shop early, and if they already have one, you’re covered. Full details are at BestBuy.com/Returns.

Is My Best Buy Plus Worth It for Black Friday?

You do not need a paid membership to shop Best Buy’s Black Friday deals. Anyone can shop the public deals.

But My Best Buy Plus (lowered to $29.99 a year this spring) and My Best Buy Total (around $180 to $200 a year, and it includes protection plans and tech support; check the current price before you join) get a few extras this season:

• Double rewards from Nov 19 to Dec 6: 2% back in points on qualifying purchases, instead of the usual 1%.
• Exclusive offers, like spend-and-get promotions.
• More time for returns: until Jan 31, 2027, instead of Jan 15.
• A longer price match window: 60 days to ask for Best Buy’s own lower price.
• Member-only prices and early access to some sales.

The fine print: you have to be signed in to your My Best Buy account when you buy, and points post 2 to 3 weeks later. Gift cards, tax, shipping and phones bought on AT&T or Verizon monthly payment plans don’t count. Memberships renew automatically, so set a reminder if you only want it for the holidays. Check current prices and full terms at BestBuy.com/MyBestBuyTerms.

Jenn’s take: If you’re planning one big purchase, like a new TV, add up what the membership costs against what you’d earn back before you join. On a $1,000 TV, double rewards is about $20 in reward points, not $20 off at checkout, and only on qualifying purchases. The longer return and price match windows might be worth more than the points.

Are There Free Gifts at the Door?

Remember those gifts at the door back in 2007?

Well, I checked!

As of October 30, Best Buy has not announced any free in-store gifts at the door for 2026. DoorBOOsters and doorbusters are sale prices, not giveaways, so don’t count on a free gift waiting at the entrance. If that changes, I’ll update this post.
